French Warship Successfully Releases Vessel with Two Ukrainian Sailors on Board

A vessel with two Ukrainian sailors on board was successfully released from pirate captivity by a French warship.

According to Ukrainian foreign ministry, pirates attacked MV Atlas on May 31 in the Arabian Sea . There were 20 sailors on board including two Ukrainians. When pirates boarded the ship, the crew managed to block themselves in a “ citadel ” and transmit distress signal to anti-piracy coalition.

A French warship was dispatched to the incident site; after a while, the merchant vessel was released. Reportedly, nobody suffered on board MV Atlas. The ship moves along the route.
