Brunei, Indonesia Navies Finish Exercise HELANG LAUT

Naval forces of Brunei and Indonesia finished a 5-day long joint exercise codenamed HELANG LAUT 13B/12. The thirteenth annual bilateral exercise was conducted in March 19-23. Brunei Navy was the host party.

The exercise’s objective is strengthening of relations, development of cooperation and mutual understanding by elaboration of joint operational doctrine and tactics. The exercise is aimed at acquiring of interaction experience.

Brunei Navy delegated two ships – KDB Syafaat and KDB Afiat, Indonesian Navy – KRI Barakuda and KRI Lemadang. Divers of the both navies were involved as well. During the exercise, Indonesian ships were based in Muara, Brunei.

The exercise opening ceremony was headed by Royal Brunei Navy Commander First Admiral Abdul Halim. Indonesian delegation was led by Commodore Pranyoto S.Pi., Commander of West Sea Security Task Force.
