The U.S. Navy will showcase its energy initiatives during the 2012 Navy League Sea-Air-Space Exposition at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Md., April 16-18.
Subject matter experts from the U.S. Navy will support an energy exhibit (booth #106) to provide information on the Navy’s energy program. In addition, Department of Navy leadership will provide remarks on DoN energy priorities and initiatives, including the following: Vice Adm. Philip Cullom , deputy chief of naval operations for Fleet Readiness and Logistics; Mr. Tom Hicks , deputy assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy; Mr. John Quinn , deputy director for Chief of Naval Operations Energy & Environmental Readiness Division and Col. Bob Charette, U.S. Marine Corps Expeditionary Energy Office.
“Improving energy efficiency and diversifying our energy sources is a top priority for the Department of Navy,” said Quinn. “By doing this we will enhance combat capability, and at the same time reduce costs. At the conclusion of this symposium, I hope our stakeholders feel empowered to contribute to the Navy’s energy future. We can’t do this alone. We’ll need the support from Congress, our sister military services, industry and academia.”
The Navy League of the United States is an organization that informs the public and Congress on the importance of all U.S. sea services. The exposition is a means to bring the U.S. defense industrial base, private sector companies, and key military players together to display innovative maritime technology and equipment, discuss strategic policy issues, and address current and future energy initiatives of all sea services.
