Seaman Jarryd Capper of 816 Squadron may have followed in his fathers footsteps when he chose a career in the Royal Australian Navy but this situation will be reversed when HMAS Albatross march through Nowra on Anzac Day.

Jarryd has the honour of carrying the Albatross ceremonial lifebuoy and will be heading up the parade. Following directly behind him will be his father Commander Carl Capper who, as Executive Officer of HMAS Albatross , will be leading the Albatross contingent.

Jarryd isn’t fazed by the responsibility or the fact that all eyes will be on him.“ Anzac Day has always been an important occasion in our family,” Jarryd said. “In 2010 I got to march with dad and my grandfather in Canberra, and this year my grandmother will be there to watch us. For us it’s a way of remembering and honouring the people who have gone before.”

Commander Capper said he is looking forward to it. “I’m always very proud to march on Anzac Day and I’m always the proud father so this Anzac Day will be a very special one me”.
