Even before the Holland has been officially commissioned, she has already seen a successful deployment. The new Ocean-going Patrol Vessel discovered a raft carrying 8 suspected illegal immigrants, 15 miles off the coast of Key West (USA).
The navy reported on the incident on July 2.
After reporting to the US Coastguard, the Holland stayed with the polystyrene raft. As there was no direct danger to the lives of those on board the raft, the Holland did not have to take action.
After about 2 hours, the US Coastguard took the immigrants on board another vessel and towed the raft away.
