The US. Navy reports that they detected a Russian submarine near the southern East Coast last month, according to cnn.com

It is the first time that a Russian submarine (Sierra-2) has been detected this close to the U.S., the officials reported..

Arrival of the submarine came when a U.S. Navy CSG was training off Florida.

Sierra-2 was discovered about 275 miles off the southern East Coast in international waters about two weeks ago.

The Russian submarine has turned back, and on Tuesday, it was about 600 miles off the U.S. Coast heading eastward Europe, Navy officials said.
