The Iranian Navy’s 22 nd fleet of warships came back home yesterday, after completing a 75-day mission in high seas, according to the Fars News Agency.
Late in October the warships docked in Port Sudan , where they secured transportation and shipping opposing sea piracy.
The Iranian naval task force was made up of the Shaheed Naqdi, a corvette-class vessel, and the Kharg, a supply vessel.
The Gulf of Aden is an area known for acts of piracy, making its waters dangerous for water transport. The main cause of piracy in the Gulf is the lack of any viable government in Somalia.
The Navy has been conducting anti-piracy patrols in the Gulf of Aden since November 2008.
Different countries can deploy their warships to the Gulf and coastal waters of Somalia against the pirates. The countries need to notice Somali government that they will enter the territorial waters of that country in pursuit of Somali sea pirates, pursuant to UN Security Council resolutions.
