Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command rescued a fishing trawler stuck on rocks close to Sweat Bay on 06 th December 2012. The fishing trawler named “Saman Eliya” had left from Cod Bay Fishery Harbour for fishing and the incident had occurred while leaving the harbour around 15:50hrs.
An alert Naval Patrol Craft in the vicinity had promptly rendered assistance sending a rescue team to the location. The retrieved trawler with a 5-member crew onboard was towed to the Sweat Bay beach safely for repairs.
