Philippines: Passengers Rescued from Motor Boat in Dawahon Island

51 passengers were safely rescued by personnel of the Coast Guard Detachment (CGDet) Bato from a distressed motor boat at the vicinity waters of Dawahon Island in Bohol yesterday around 02:00PM. 51 passengers were safely rescued by personnel of the Coast Guard Detachment (CGDet) Bato from a distressed motor boat at the vicinity waters of Dawahon Island in Bohol yesterday around 02:00PM.

Reports revealed that the boat owner/captain of M/Bca Neri Boy informed CGDet Bato that M/Bca N&N Mama Mary G, of 12.41GT and owned/operated by Neri Obligado, encountered engine trouble while underway at the vicinity waters of Dawahon Island.

M/Bca N&N Mama Mary G was carrying 50 adult passengers and one child when it encountered engine overheating due to defective water cooling system.

Immediately, personnel of CGDet Bato coordinated with M/Bca “Neri Boy”, the sister M/Bca of the latter which is scheduled to depart Port of Ubay, Bohol on same route with 13) adult passengers and one child onboard to provide rescue/ assistance.

At 01:00 PM, M/Bca “N&N MAMA MARY G” arrived at vicinity seawaters of Dawahon Island and conducted towing of the distressed M/bca enroute Port of Bato, Leyte and safely arrived thereat on or about 02:00PM. Personnel of CGDet Bato assisted in the safe disembarkation of passengers wherein, no injuries, casualties or damage to property were reported during the incident.
