Cubic Simulation Systems has received three contracts from the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division, Orlando each valued at $99.5 million, the US Department of Defence announced.
The contracts include freedom variant, independence variant and mission packages courseware development for the Littoral Combat Ship.
The freedom variant and independence courseware development contracts provide for approximately 3,500 hours of instructor-led (synchronous) and instructor facilitated self-paced (asynchronous) courseware in support of the Littoral Combat Ship Train to Qualify (T2Q) and Train to Certify (T2C) shore-based training requirements respectively.
The mission packages courseware development contract provides for approximately 3,500 hours of Immersive Virtual Ship Environment-Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IVSE IMI) in support of the Littoral Combat Ship Train to Qualify (T2Q) and Train to Certify (T2C) shore-based training requirements.
The Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) is a fast, agile, and networked surface combatant, optimized for operating in the littorals. The primary missions for the LCS include countering diesel submarine threats, littoral mine threats, and surface threats, such as small surface craft attacks, to assure maritime access for Joint forces. The underlying strength of the LCS lies in its innovative design approach, applying modularity for operational flexibility. Fundamental to this approach is the capability to rapidly install interchangeable mission packages (MPs) onto the seaframe. Each mission package can be quickly installed aboard an LCS to fulfill a specific mission, and then be uninstalled, maintained, and upgraded at a Mission Package Support Facility (MPSF) for future use aboard any LCS seaframe.
The work activities will be performed in Orlando, Fla., and are expected to be completed in January 2018.
