Navy Assists in Repatriation of 58 Sri Lankan, Indian Fishermen

Sri Lanka Navy assisted in the repatriation of 9 Sri Lankan and 25 Indian fishermen and 4 Fishing trawlers on 05 th July 2013.

The Sri Lankan fishermen along with their two fishing boats named “Lakshani” and “Ruwan Putha” were taken over from the Indian Coast Guard Ship “Rajshree” at the International Maritime Boundary Line off Kankasanthurai by Sri Lanka Naval Vessel Ranawickrama attached to the Northern Naval Command and Sri Lanka Coast Guard Vessels CG 44 and CG 42.

Meanwhile, 24 Indian fishermen and 5 Indian fishing trawlers, which had been in Sri Lankan custody, were also handed over to ICGS “Rajkamal” at the International Maritime Boundary Line off Thalaimanna on 04th July 2013.
