Navy to Bring ashore 73 Australia-Bound Sri Lankans

Sri Lanka Navy has made arrangements to bring ashore the 73 Australia-bound Sri Lankans stranded in the south eastern seas of Sri Lanka.

On the direction of the Navy, a merchant vessel heading for Singapore had rescued them 290 nautical miles south east of Galle close to noon yesterday (24 th July 2013).

The Navy alerted the merchant vessels in the area for the rescue two days ago having received information on the incident from the Police.
