On Thursday, 21 November 2013 Chief of the South African Navy (C Navy), Vice Admiral J. Mudimu visited and bid farewell to Northridge Primary School.

The school is one of the SAN’s adopted social responsibility projects and was the school that provided the musical interlude as guest arrived at this year’s Chief of the Navy’s Gala concert.

C Navy first encountered the primary school while attending a Department of Defence (DoD) function at the CSIR Conference in Pretoria last year in October. The school had been invited by the DoD to entertain guests and C Navy realised the school’s potential as it was performing even with the meagre resources at its disposal. He envisaged Northridge Primary partnering with the SA Navy Band and perfecting their raw talent into hopefully an accomplished Band. With this vision in mind he enlisted the assistance of members of the SA Navy Band to fine tune the young musicians talents.
