Sri Lanka Navy Apprehends Explosives Intended for Illegal Fishing

Naval troops attached to SLNS Vijayaba of the Eastern Naval Command on information received recovered explosives used for illegal fishing with 2 persons, in the seas off Erakkandi on 4th December 2013.

The arrested fishermen with explosives were handed over to Fisheries Officials in Trincomalee.

Meanwhile naval personnel attached to SLNS Dakshina of the Southern Naval Command also arrested 2 persons while transporting a haul of fish caught, using dynamite in Akurala on 4th December 2013. Arrested persons along with the fish stock were handed over to Meetiyagoda Police for legal action.
