The future Spearhead-class Joint High Speed Vessel USNS Millinocket passed acceptance trials on January 10, 2014.
The trials that tested all systems of the ship were conducted at the Austal USA shipyard located in Mobile, Al., and showed that there were no major issues with the vessel’s functioning.
Strategic and Theater Sealift program manager, Capt. Henry Stevens, said that they are extremely pleased with USNS Millinocket’s performance during the trials.
The ship will be able to transport arms and vehicles for the US Army and Marine Corps as well as ensure troop transport for an infantry battalion.
