US, UK Warships Replenish at Sea
HMS SOMERSET AND USNS LAREMIE

The Royal Navy ship, HMS Somerset replenished at sea with the US Navy replenishment oiler USNS Laramie.

HMS Somerset received fuel from the Command Task Force 53 tanker without having to leave her area of operations.

The type 23 frigate recently passed the Suez Canal and was in need of refuelling before continuing her tasks east of Suez.

This replenishment was a good example of multinational cooperation with a goal to ensure the security in international waters, Logistic Officer of HMS Somerset, Lieutenant Commander James Lancaster, said.

HMS Somerset is in the early stages of a six-month deployment to support counter-piracy operations in the Indian Ocean and Gulf region.
