On February 18, Nakhimov Naval Academy hosted the first working session of the Black Sea region navy representatives to plan the events of April 2014 BLACKSEAFOR Activation and develop the project’s operation order.
The session was chaired by Rear Admiral Denis Berezovsky, Deputy Navy Commander of Ukraine. According to him, the participants needed to sum up the results of the August 2013 Activation, the results of software use, and discuss the issues of inviiting military orchestras to April 2014 BLACKSEAFOR activation.
Rear Admiral Denis Berezovsky expressed certitude that during this session the parties would solve all the matters related to the Meeting of BLACKSEAFOR navy commanders to be held in Varna (Bulgaria) in May. The BLACKSEAFOR command transfer from Ukraine to Bulgaria will be discussed at this meeting.
Both August and April activations are aimed at counter-piracy activities and ecological safety.
The Ukrainian Navy will be represented by Slavutych ship (U 510).
