Australian naval contractor ASC said that it has not been consulted by the National Commission in its preparation of advice to the Australian Government regarding privatisation of ASC in the short term.

“ASC’s performance is world class and the work we do underpins Australia’s national security. The transformation of the Collins Class Submarines program is a clear example of this level of performance”, said ASC in its release.

In his recent progress review into the sustainment of the Collins Class submarine capability, international expert John Coles stated:

“What has been achieved to date is remarkable, delivering a level of performance that would not have been viewed as possible two years ago.

“It has been an enormous pleasure to observe the astonishing turnaround of a seriously failing project to one that should, within just two years, achieve or better international benchmark performance.”

According to ASC, the company continues to perform in every measure including their safety and their financial performance.
