Colombian Navy Impounds 246 Kilograms of Cocaine

The Colombian Navy, in a joined operation with the Magdalena Prosecution Office, seized 246 kilograms of cocaine aboard the Panamanian flagged bulk carrier “Aquagrace”.

The operation was developed through community information, by the units of the Coast Guard Station Santa Marta in the sector Dock Drummond where the ship, which came from Canada and was bound for Holland, was docked. According to the information received from the community, the vessel was apparently transporting  four stowaways. After an inspection six packs containing 250 packages of drugs were found hidden in a compartment of the ship rudder. The officials found no stowaways.

The Magdalena Prosecution Office staff tested the material found and confirmed it was cocaine.

So far this year about 29 tons of cocaine was seized by the Navy in the Colombian Caribbean.
