Royal UK Navy minehunter HMS Quorn returns home to Portsmouth today, September 2, after three years deployed on operations in the Gulf.

Her 44 crew have been away for eight months but the ship has been based in Bahrain since May 2011.

HMS Quorn has been a key part of Britain’s contribution to Operation Kipion, responsible for keeping sea lanes open and combating illegal maritime activity in the region.

The ship has been involved in numerous high tempo operations and exercises, building lasting relationships with regional allies and flying the flag for the UK in the region.
