Royal Australian Navy recently decided to standardize their data processing workflow for their Survey Motor Launches (SML) on CARIS software.

CARIS has been used successfully for several years on the larger RAN survey vessels and this has led to the widespread adoption of HIPS and SIPS on the SMLs.

The CARIS solution will replace the legacy systems that are currently being used providing a streamlined workflow for multibeam and side scan processing, giving much improved efficiency.

The sale to the RAN included 11 seats of HIPS and SIPS and in addition 11 seats of S-57 Composer, giving the SML’s an in-field electronic charting capability vital for supporting dynamic operations.
