Rear Admiral Pakorn Wanich of the Royal Thai Navy, the Commander of Combined Maritime Forces’ (CMF) counter-piracy task force, CTF-151, attended the Maritime Information Exchange Vessel Operators’ Meeting (MIEVOM) at the Movenpick LBN Battuta Gate Hotel in Dubai on 11 December 2014.
MIEVOM provides a stage for maritime organisations to exchange information in support of maritime security aimed at ensuring the safety for maritime trade.
After attending the MIEVOM meeting, Rear Admiral Wanich visited the UK Maritime Trade Organisation (UKMTO) in Dubai. Lieutenant Commander Peter Harriman Royal Navy, the Officer in Charge, welcomed Commander CTF-151 to the organisation and gave a presentation on the work that UKMTO does. He explained that UKMTO is the primary point of contact for merchant vessels who wish to be informed about maritime security issues and protective measures in the region, and to liaise with naval forces to ensure their safety while passing through the High Risk Area.
