The US Coast Guard commissioned its newest fast response cutter William Trump at Coast Guard Sector Key West, Florida, January 24, 2015.
The vessel is named after the U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class William Trump who earned a silver star for valor in action during the assault phase of the landing at Normandy during WWII, more than 70 years ago.
USCGC William Trump joins the Coast Guard 7th District’s fleet as their 11th fast response cutter.
Coast Guard Cutter William Trump, homeported in Key West, is 154-feet long, has a beam of 25-feet, and a maximum sustained speed of more than 28 knots. The William Trump is armed with a stabilized 25mm machine-gun mount and four crew-served .50-caliber machine guns.
