Bergen Group Services AS has been awarded a one-year extension of the contract with the Norwegian Armed Forces’ logistics organization (FLO) for the ship technical maintenance of the Navy’s frigate class.

The contract has an estimated value of NOK 70 million, and is valid until July 2016.

Bergen Group signed in June 2012 a comprehensive contract with FLO on ship maintenance and repair of frigate class. The main contract was valid until July 2014, with an option for annual renewal of up to three additional years until summer 2017. The contract now signed is for the second renewal year out of three.

The project involves planning, coordination and implementation of scheduled maintenance, corrective maintenance and other additional work on the Navy’s five frigates. The work will mainly be conducted on the Navy’s main naval base at Haakonsvern just outside Bergen.

The new frigates are highly complex vessels, and the implementation of such a project requires high demands of expertise, quality and documentation.

The contract is an important contribution Bergen Group’s long-term strategy of further developing the Group’s expertise and capacity related to complex maritime projects and maritime service operations.

Bergen Group is a well-established Norwegian supplier of products, services and solutions to the offshore and maritime industry. The core activities are focused on Rig Service, Maritime Service and Subsea & Offshore Service.
