The search operation for the missing pilots of the Soviet-made An-2 aircraft in the Baltic Sea continues.

After the Lithuanian Navy located the wreck of the aircraft on May 19, the search for its pilots continued. The Navy’s vessels LNS Kuršis (M54) and LNS Šakiai were surveying the search area over the previous three days. LNS Kuršis examined the An-2 wreck with her underwater robotic video camera to try to obtain data about the inside of the aircraft. Klaipėda University specialists joined the underwater operation yesterday.

The search and rescue efforts are coordinated by the Maritime Rescue and Coordination Centre of the Lithuanian Navy.

To remind, the An-2 and its crew went missing above the Baltic Sea on 16 May.
