Dignitaries Pay Visit to EUNAVFOR HQ

On Tuesday 30 June the Finnish Ambassador to United Kingdom, His Excellency Mr Pekka Huhtaniemi, and the Commander of the Finnish Navy, Rear Admiral Kari Takanen, visited the EU Naval Force Operational Headquarters (OHQ) in Northwood, UK.

Ambassador Pekka Huhtaniemi and Rear Admiral Kari Takanen were met by the Deputy Commander of the EU Naval Force, Rear Admiral Paolo Pezzutti.

During their visit they were given a presentation on the European Union’s counter-piracy mission off the coast of Somalia and given a tour of the Joint Operations Centre (JOC) and Maritime Security Centre, Horn of Africa (MSCHOA). The guests were also introduced to members of the multi-national staff, including the Finnish military officers who work in the Operational Headquarters.
