The hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) completed its 14-day mission to Papua New Guinea July 10 for Pacific Partnership 2015.
The vessel worked with host nation military, government and healthcare professionals and community leaders to improve disaster relief response capabilities in the region.
The mission was conducted in two locations – the town of Arawa, in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, and in and around the city of Rabaul, in the province of East New Britain.
The PP15 team worked with the residents of Papua New Guinea in Bougainville and East New Britain to train and exchange ideas.
Mercy’s next mission stop for PP15 is the Republic of the Philippines.
