Personnel on board RFA Argus have been presented with Ebola campaign medals following a six-month deployment to West Africa.
The Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship deployed to Sierra Leone in October 2014 with more than 350 Tri-Service personnel on board – and returned to Falmouth in April this year.
RFA Argus spent six months off the coast of Sierra Leone supporting the UK government’s effort to contain the spread of Ebola – primarily using her three Naval helicopters and Royal Marine landing craft to provide logistic support.
In his role as Commodore-in-Chief RFA His Royal Highness The Earl of Wessex presented seven medals onboard RFA Argus in a private ceremony following an earlier presentation to Royal Navy medical personnel by the First Sea Lord Sir George Zambellas.
HRH also presented four Long Service and Good Conduct clasps for 30 years’ service to personnel who have shown exemplary behavior – including one for the Commodore RFA Cdre Rob Dorey.
