The Ticonderoga class guided-missile Cruiser Cape St. George (CG 71) arrived in Mazatlán, Mexico for a scheduled goodwill and friendship building port visit Sept. 24.
During the visit the ship participated in several community outreach events at a local orphanage, hosted government and military officials onboard, and enjoyed the local hospitality of Mazatlán.
The U.S. Consulate General Hermosilla, Governor of Sinaloa, Mayor of Mazatlán, and Vicealmirante CG. Dem. Francisco Limas Lopez Comandante de la Cuarta Zona naval visited the ship for a reception. At the reception, Mexican officials and the ship further strengthened the strong working relationship and partnership that the U.S. Navy has with the Mexican Navy.
Cape St. George is a multi-mission, guided-missile cruiser designed to operate in multi- threat air, surface and sub-surface threat environments and is assigned to Commander, U.S. 3rd Fleet (C3F). C3F leads naval forces in the Eastern Pacific from the West Coast of North America to the International Date Line.
