USS Porter (DDG 78) will sail into the Black Sea today, Oct. 6, to promote peace and stability in the region.
Porter will enter the Black Sea in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. The US Navy routinely operates ships in the Black Sea consistent with international law.
Vice Adm. James Foggo, Commander of U.S. 6th Fleet, said:
Forward Deployed Naval Forces, like USS Porter, continue to demonstrate why being forward matters. Her presence will continue to improve our interoperability and capabilities with allies and partners.
USS Porter (DDG 78), forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is on a routine patrol conducting naval operations with allies and partners in the US 6th Fleet area of operations in order to advance security and stability in the Black Sea region.
