The Mexican Navy has awarded Damen, a Dutch shipbuilder, a contract for further three Ténochtitlan class patrol vessels. The 42-metre patrol vessels are in addition to the Navy’s existing fleet of patrol vessels. All ships will be of the Damen Stan Patrol 4207 design.

According to Damen, the three SPa 4207 vessels will be built by the Mexican Navy Yard ASTIMAR 1 in Tampico. Damen will provide the engineering, material package, technical assistance and crew training.

The vessels will be named after Mexican historical sites and are expected to be launched in 2016. With these three patrol vessels, the total number of vessels in the Ténochtitlan class will come to ten.

In the past, Damen has delivered their patrol vessels to the navies of Bulgaria, Albania and Bahamas in 2010, 2012 and 2015, respectively.

The video below doesn’t show a Mexican Navy ship but it does show the SPa 4207 in action at sea.
