Kiel, Germany firefighters responded to a call from the crew of Algerian Navy ship Harrad which reported a case of illness on Monday, February 29, Kieler Nachrichten reported.

The firefighter department said that two persons came down with influenza.

The news agency further said the health condition of the sailors had worsened during the night. Ship’s medical staff also called for support from TKMS’ factory fire brigade.

The MEKO-class frigate, first Algerian Navy ship to be built in Germany, is currently berthed at the ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems shipyard in Kiel where it is in the process of outfitting.

Harrad was commissioned by the Algerian Navy on February 23 in Germany and is set to be delivered to the Algerian Navy in the coming months. Another A-200 Meko-class frigate is also under construction for Algeria and will, according to reports, be delivered in 2017.
