As the German Navy is preparing to decommission the last four fast attack craft still in service in the following days, it has shared a gallery of photos that show how the vessel type evolved through history.
Gepard-class fast attack craft Hermelin, Zobel, Frettchen and Hyäne will be decommissioned in mid-Novermber as the last ships of the type.
Gepard class fast attack craft are successors of the the Albatros class, the last of which was decommissioned in 2005.
No new fast attack craft will be developed as the vessels will be suplemented by Braunschweig-class corvettes and later be replaced by a new class of corvettes.
