San Diego shipyards win $383M worth of US Navy contracts

The U.S. Navy awarded three San Diego shipyards a combined $383 million of contract modifications for the maintenance and modernization of amphibious ships homeported in San Diego, California.

The three shipbuilders to win the contracts are BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair, Continental Maritime of San Diego and General Dynamics, National Steel and Shipbuilding Co..

The contract contains options for complex, emergent and continuous maintenance, repair, modernization and Chief of Naval Operations availabilities on U.S. Navy ships.

Work will be taking place at contractor facilities or Naval Base San Diego, and is expected to be completed by March 2018.
