The Indian Navy launched a massive search operation for a Mexican cadet who reportedly fell overboard from the Mexican sail training ship STS Cuahtemoc off Goa, on June 11.

The navy even launched P8I maritime patrol aircraft for search and rescue operations on June 11 and 12.

The search is still ongoing and initial reports say that the female cadet was not wearing life saving gear at the time of the incident.

In addition to maritime patrol aircraft, Indian Navy ship Teg arrived on the location, June 12, while destroyer Mysore (with two integral helicopters) is expected to arrive in the area on June 13.

The Mexican Navy attributed the incident to adverse weather conditions.

The Mexican sail training ship is scheduled to visit Mumbai from June 21 to 26. After Mumbai, ARM Cuauhtémoc is set to visit Singapore.
