The Bulgarian Navy is staging a fleet wide drill with the aim of preparing units for the international Black Sea exercise Sea Breeze.

Dubbed Black Sea – 2018, the local exercise is taking place from June 18 to 22 and will see the participation of 25 Bulgarian naval and auxiliary ships.

The exercise will involve anti-air, anti-submarine and surface warfare evolutions in addition to mine countermeasure and replenishment at sea training. Bulgarian Navy personnel will also use the opportunity to rehearse implementing NATO’s operational procedures.

Black Sea – 2018 is the final exercise undertaken by the Bulgarian Navy before joining the US/Ukraine co-hosted exercise Sea Breeze 2018 which starts early July. This will be the 18th iteration of the annual recurring multinational exercise.
