U.S. shipbuilding company Dakota Creek Industries has launched YT 811, the second harbor tug in a series for the U.S. Navy.

This is the Navy’s fourth YT 808-class harbor tugboat. A total of six is being built under the contract with Dakota Creek Industries. The contract was awarded in July 2018.

YT 808 is the first Navy vessel constructed to meet EPA Tier 4 marine diesel engine emission standards.

The vessels are designed after the Navy’s existing YT 802 Valiant-class tugs

The 27-metre long vessel Yard Tug (YT) 811 is to undergo acceptance trials in late summer 2021.

After that, it will be delivered to Naval Base Kitsap, Bremerton Annex, Washington.

The vessel will be stationed alongside its sister tugboat Rainier , delivered by Dakota Creek Industries in 2020.
