Argentine Navy’s final OPV ARA CL Cordero completes sea trials
The last of the four offshore patrol vessels (OPV 87), ARA Contraalmirante Cordero, which was built by French shipbuilder Naval Group for the Argentine Navy has completed sea trials.
The launching ceremony of the 87-meter long vessel took place on 21 September last year. Naval Group signed a contract with Argentina in 2019 to provide four multi-mission offshore patrol vessels.
According to the company, the four vessels were built in “record time”, in just six months. The OPV ARA Contraalmirante Cordero is scheduled for delivery this April.
ARA Bouchard (ex-L’Adroit) was delivered in December 2019 and ARA Piedrabuena in April 2021. ARA Storni was launched on 10 May 2021 and will be delivered in October, in accordance with the original contractual schedule.
