UAE-based technology and defense group EDGE Group has unveiled multiple agreements and collaborations with the Brazilian Navy, designed to enhance Brazil’s naval capabilities, particularly in the areas of anti-drone systems, missile technology, and strategic defense solutions.
Counter-drone systems for naval defense
EDGE Group has signed a strategic letter of intent with the Brazilian Navy’s Weapons Systems Directorate. This partnership is focused on the joint development of counter-drone systems tailored to the specific needs of naval defense, particularly against the growing threat of autonomous air and surface vehicles. The systems, which will integrate advanced sensors, radar, electro-optical technologies, and signal jamming capabilities, are designed to neutralize drone threats.
The next phase of this initiative will see the formation of a joint working group composed of technical experts from both EDGE and the Brazilian Navy to advance the development of these modern defense technologies.
The document was signed at LAAD Defence & Security 2025, currently being held at the Riocentro Exhibition & Convention Center in Rio de Janeiro.
The next phase of MANSUP-ER anti-ship missile project
In another milestone, EDGE Group also signed a strategic license agreement with SIATT, Brazil’s smart weapons developer, to acquire the intellectual property for the MANSUP-ER, an extended-range variant of Brazil’s national anti-ship missile, the MANSUP.
This agreement builds on EDGE’s acquisition of SIATT and aims to expand the production and commercialization of these advanced weapons systems.
The MANSUP-ER, with its 200 km range, adaptive sea-skimming capabilities, and radar-homing technology, is expected to enhance the Brazilian Navy’s strategic firepower. Testing of the MANSUP-ER is already underway with Brazil’s naval fleet, with integration into the Tamandaré-class frigates expected by late 2025.
“Partnering with the Brazilian Navy and leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as MANSUP-ER, we can redefine strategic and operational readiness, offering more precise, efficient, and secure solutions to meet the challenges of the modern world,” Rodrigo Torres , EDGE Group’s Chief Financial Officer, said.
Additionally, EDGE has signed a $300 million contract with the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces for MANSUP systems and is engaged in high-level negotiations with potential buyers across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Strengthening defense infrastructure
EDGE Group has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with EMGEPRON, Brazil’s state-owned naval projects management company. This partnership aims to facilitate the exchange of technical information and advance the development of key defense systems, including missiles, torpedoes, and high-precision devices for strategic military operations.
This collaboration is poised to significantly enhance EDGE’s capabilities in Brazil, enabling the company to play “a crucial role in developing and marketing defense products” that support Brazil’s national defense objectives. It also opens the door to future exports, with EMGEPRON serving as a partner for Brazilian defense companies expanding into global markets.
