Spanish shipbuilding major Navantia has secured a contract to support the Royal Thai Navy in its project to enhance the capability of the landing platform dock (LPD) HTMS Chang (792).
The contract includes the provision and integration of the combat management system (CMS), surveillance system, fire control system (FCS), weapon system, gyros, and other related technologies.
Navantia will equip the HTMS Chang with some of its modern naval systems, including the CATIZ CMS and DORNA FCS, ensuring the RTN benefits from the most advanced capabilities available.
This project represents a continuation of the working relationship between Navantia and the RTN, and includes cooperative efforts with Mahidol Dockyard.

The Royal Thai Navy commissioned the landing platform dock, HTMS Chang (792), on April 25, 2023, in Chuk Samet Port, Sattahip Naval Base. The vessel is capable of deploying amphibious vehicles and can land up to 600 troops.
To remind, in February this year, another Spanish firm was contracted to supply naval equipment for the remote-controlled weapon stations for the Royal Thai Navy.
