As disclosed, the company will supply 16 WESCAM MX-Series systems. The P-8A will conduct critical maritime and overland patrol and reconnaissance missions using these systems. The aircraft is operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force.

“Maritime and national security, including missions in the Arctic, require extremely reliable systems like the WESCAM MX-20 to enhance critical security coast-to-coast,” said Tom Kirkland, Vice President and General Manager, Targeting and Sensor Systems, L3Harris.

The contract also marks the 8,000th WESCAM MX-Series EO/IR system delivery.

The new contract with Canada builds on the 11 WESCAM MX-20 systems L3Harris announced last year for a new fleet of remotely piloted aircraft. The firm is providing General Atomics Aeronautical Systems for Canada’s fleet of MQ-9B SkyGuardian. The first aircraft delivery to the RCAF is expected in 2028.

In October last year, the US Navy awarded L3Harris Technologies a contract to perform depot maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) support of the 135 aircraft P-8A Poseidon fleet.
