As informed, the ceremony took place on July 22, 2025. The 117-meter-long vessel will have a range of 5,000 nautical miles, a crew capacity of 11 officers and 110 personnel, and a top speed of 23 knots.

These OPVs will be equipped with advanced technologies such as AI-based predictive maintenance, remote piloted drones, an integrated bridge system (IBS), and an integrated platform management system (IPMS).

The NGOPVs are being constructed under a contract signed on December 20, 2023, and are fully indigenous under the Buy (Indian-IDDM) category

The acquisition of these ships is aimed at boosting ICG’s capability and reinforces the increased focus of the government towards maritime security.

Recently, the Indian Coast Guard launched Achal, the fifth fast patrol vessel (FPV) in a series of eight being constructed by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL).
