Italian shipbuilding major Fincantieri and Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the naval defense sector.
The MoU was signed on September 2, 2025, during the international defense industry exhibition MSPO in Kielce, Poland.

Under the agreement, Fincantieri and PGZ will explore joint opportunities in the design, construction, and through-life support of advanced naval platforms, including submarines.
This partnership will combine Fincantieri’s technological knowledge in naval shipbuilding with PGZ’s extensive industrial base, which plays ‘a central role’ in Poland’s defense modernization strategy.
Together, the two companies aim to develop joint opportunities not only for the Polish Navy but also in broader international markets.

PGZ recently teamed up with South Korean shipbuilding heavyweight Hanwha Ocean and Nauta Shipyard to strengthen cooperation in naval shipbuilding and maintenance. The strategic collaboration aims to support Hanwha Ocean’s bid for the Polish Navy’s ORKA submarine project and further efforts to localize production.
