JFD Global, ST Engineering to explore new collab opportunities in Singapore

James Fisher Defence (JFD Global) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ST Engineering Marine to explore new opportunities for collaboration in Singapore and beyond.

The agreement builds on a long-standing and successful partnership between the two companies that spans more than 15 years.

First formalized in 2008 through a joint venture, the collaboration has delivered submarine rescue solutions and supported the ongoing operational support of RSN’s submarine rescue system.

The new MoU will combine JFD’s proven submarine rescue capabilities with ST Engineering’s in providing shipbuilding, repair and conversion services.

The companies will further develop opportunities to partner across submarine rescue, commercial shipbuilding, and critical underwater infrastructure.

The agreement also establishes a framework for broader international collaboration, enabling both companies to expand the partnership into new geographies beyond Singapore.

“This partnership with ST Engineering Marine exemplifies our strategic focus on global expansion through collaboration and innovation. The decades of support we have provided to the Republic of Singapore Navy highlights the depth and trust in our relationship,” Jean Vernet , CEO, James Fisher and Sons plc, said.

“Our partnership with JFD Global on the submarine support and rescue vessel underscores the success of our collaboration. With this MOU, we will leverage our complementary strengths to explore emerging opportunities and new markets for subsea shipbuilding, commercial newbuilds and MRO,” Tan Leong Peng , President of Marine, ST Engineering, added.

To remind, in September last year, JFD Global secured a contract with PGZ Stocznia Wojenna. The agreement will see JFD Global integrate a combined, hyperbaric and saturation diving system into the Polish Navy’s new salvage and rescue vessel, Ratownik.
