French technology company Exail has unveiled the Advans Vega SL, a new inertial navigation system designed to provide continuous positioning capability during amphibious operations.
The system is intended to support military forces operating in contested littoral areas where global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signals may be unavailable due to jamming, spoofing, or other disruptions.

According to Exail, the Advans Vega SL can operate without reliance on external signals throughout an operation, from vessel departure to shore landing, eliminating the need for reconfiguration during the sea-to-land transition.
The company said the system combines maritime and land navigation functions within a single platform, avoiding the handover requirements typically associated with separate navigation systems used for different operational phases.
Furthermore, Advans Vega SL is based on Exail’s Fiber Optic Gyroscope technology. The company reports that the system provides heading accuracy of 0.05 degrees RMS during maritime operations and 0.5 mils RMS during land operations. These capabilities are intended to support navigation and fire-control functions in environments where satellite-based positioning is unavailable.
Yann Le Balc’h , Business Development Manager for Land Defense at Exail, said the system was developed to address the growing expectation that GNSS-denied conditions will be encountered during amphibious and littoral operations.
Exail supplies navigation systems for naval and land forces and states that its technologies are currently in service with more than 70 military operators worldwide.
