Singapore Navy’s second Victory-class multi-role combat vessel hits the water

The Republic of Singapore Navy’s (RSN) second Victory-class multi-role combat vessel (MRCV), Valour, has been launched at ST Engineering’s Benoi Shipyard.

MRCV Valour, the second of Singapore’s six new MRCVs, was launched on July 23. The vessel is designed to serve as a “mothership” for unmanned aerial, surface, and underwater systems, enabling a wide range of naval operations. It will also feature advanced sensors, weapon systems, and networked capabilities, allowing it to counter diverse threats while serving as a command ship.

Thanks to its high level of automation, the MRCV can operate safely and efficiently with a significantly smaller crew than conventional warships of similar size and capability, according to the navy.

Valour will be undergoing outfitting, platform and combat systems integration, and acceptance trials. In parallel, the MRCV crew will also begin training to prepare them to operationalise the ship in the coming years.

The units will be delivered progressively from 2028 onwards.

To remind, in October last year, Singapore floated out the first Victory-class MRCV.
