BMT Fleet Technology Begins Design Work for Canada’s Joint Support Ship

BMT Fleet Technology, of Ottawa, Ontario is pleased to announce the start of its work on a design for the Canadian Forces’ (CF) new Joint Support Ship (JSS). This new task, awarded under a long running contract supporting the JSS Project Management Office (PMO), represents a major step towards new capabilities for the CF. BMT’s design will incorporate the results of its years of experience with the JSS project and its understanding of the Navy’s operational needs.

Andrew Carran, Vice President Defence Projects, explains: “We are delighted at the confidence shown in BMT by the Canadian government. Our objective is to ensure that the Canadian Forces get the best ship with which to perform their challenging missions now and for years to come.”

An innovative leader in providing through-life engineering support, BMT Fleet Technology will develop the new design option for the JSS around the CF’s detailed requirements for a highly capable, state-of-the-art vessel that will fully support CF missions worldwide. The design team will also draw on the resources of the BMT group, the leading international design engineering and risk management consultancy which has first-hand experience of working on similar projects for other navies around the world.
