SAIC Wins USD 36 Million Engineering and Technical Services Contract

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC)  announced today it was awarded a prime contract by the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Carderock Division to provide advanced engineering and technical services in support of the U.S. Navy Ship Signatures Directorate and signature silencing programs.

The single-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract has a one-year base period of performance, two one-year options, and a contract ceiling of more than $36 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in Long Beach, Miss., and Poulsbo, Wash.

NSWC Carderock’s Ship Signatures Department is responsible for the development of signature reduction technology to support Navy surface ship and submarine program goals. It also operates and maintains major acoustic research and development facilities. Under the contract, SAIC will provide advanced engineering and technical services, including system development support for software and hardware systems; installation, validation and operation of measurement systems; and strategic planning in support of signature measurement systems for naval ships and undersea systems at its acoustic measurement facilities.

“SAIC has supported the Navy with advanced engineering, measurement facility services, and technical support for submarine signature programs for more than 20 years,” said John Fratamico, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager. “We are pleased to continue our support of these mission-critical tasks, providing the specialized engineering that is helping advance U.S. leadership in undersea technology and testing.”
