Russia: Black Sea Coast Guard Gets New Commander

 

General Major Yury Zviryk was appointed a new director of Black Sea/Azov Coast Guard Department; his previos post was the head of FSB Frontier Service, Abkhazian branch, reported press service of Krasnodar regional administration on Sept 6.

Zviryk has shifted Fedor Cherednichenko whose next position will be deputy director of FSB Frontier Service, Southern branch, reports the regional administration.

According to its release, the new head of Black Sea/Azov Coast Guard Department General Major Zviryk was introduced to regional authorities by Deputy Director of Russian FSB Frontier Service General Lieutenant Alexander Khlevniuk.

Talking to Krasnodar Governor’s assistant, Khlevniuk discussed issues of cooperation between the region and frontier service. “In particular, the talk was about further improvement of border control posts’ functioning, tightening of control over poaching in the Black and Azov seas, promotion of security in border areas and during preparation for Winter Olympics 2014 in Sochi”, said the release.

The parties agreed to “develop traditions of partnership”, added the press service of regional administration.
