UK: Xpedite GOC Secures QEC Contract

Xpedite GOC Ltd has recently been awarded the contract to support the activities the Ministry of Defence – Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) RCM Project.

The new QE Class is currently being built at shipyards around the country; HMS Queen Elizabeth and Prince of Wales are the future flagships of the Naval Fleet. The Project decided to use Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) to define the platform maintenance requirements due to the ability to provide a safe, auditable and cost effective through life solution. The project is being carried out to the MoD defined RCM Defence Standard 00-45.

As the QEC RCM Project is still in its infancy, the customer (Thales UK) is utilising Xpedite to provide RCM training, mentoring, and contract facilitation. Thales UK are looking to draw on Xpedite’s experience of having provided a ‘whole boat’ RCM solution for the ASTUTE Class submarines. The experience gained on that project will ensure delivery of an RCM solution that is viable, defensible and meets the customers needs.

Tasking has also been extended to help manage the Integrated UMMS (Unit Maintenance Management System) Environment. Through life activities include management of the data, writing of job information cards and the grouping and scheduling of maintenance within the maintenance management system.
